Z-man's Coins was started in June of 2008 at Howard's Flea Market as a part-time for fun business. John and Alexandrea worked weekends buying and selling coins and silver. As time went on they started working at Stokes Flea Market in June of 2009 and Webster Flea Market in June of the following year. Each year business continued to get better and more and more people relied on our knowledge and honesty. In 2010, we also started selling on eBay. In October of 2012 a weekend Flea Market opened up, Airport Farmers and Flea Market (AFFM), Alexandrea at age 16 took over that on her own. Business continued to get better and we decided to start a website. In May of 2015 Danette joined us and worked weekends at AFFM. Alexandrea left to work with NGC as a grader from May 2015 thru November of 2017 when she returned to help run Z-man's Coins. With her work at NGC, Alexandrea has gained 2 1/2 years of grading and authentication experience that elevated our business. Z-man's Coins continues to not only buy and sell, but educate others, give back for numismatic efforts, and promote this hobby for future generations. |
Our Logo!
Pictured above is the source of our logo with its original document. In 2008, Z-man's Coins was formed as a fun idea to sell some extra coins and buy. From the beginning we have always wanted to find a cool logo for our business. Product branding is very important. Finding something cool yet somewhat unique was important. In 2012 we had the opportunity to buy a majority of the R. M. Patterson family estate. As part of that deal a very cool brass hub reduction wrapped in a paper addressed to Mint Director Patterson.
This is unique for a $1 size and only 2 half dollar sizes are known, one of which is in the Smithsonian. This is the reverse of patterns J-80 and J-81, both 50¢ pieces. It was graded/authenticated by NGC. In 2014, we have looked at the pics of this piece and thought it would be a great logo, and pretty unique. So with a good scan and refining, we adopted it as our business logo. |
